Hudson River

A river in New York state, U.S. It flows almost entirely within the state, the exception being its final segment, where it forms the boundary between New York and New Jersey for 21 miles. The Hudson originates in several small postglacial lakes in the Adirondack Mountains near Mount Marcy (5,344 feet), the highest point in New York, and flows about 315 miles through the eastern part of the state. Lake Tear of the Clouds is regarded as the source of its main headstream, the Opalescent River.
